Which operating system?

Hello,
I am going to buy a nice system (INTEL i7-3930K, ASUS P9X79, 32GB DDR3 PC-1333) and want to use the machine for floating point calculations on large datasets.
So far I used Linux + Matlab or C for my calculations, but I am afraid that Windows might be the better choice with respect to performance.
Anny Suggestion?

Me? I say Windows XP SP3.

windows 7 is highly recommended for those types of processor if he installed xp may be there is some issue with it.
