Hello,
my cpu overheats like crazy, and it drops the speed from dual 2ghz to dual 500mgz. ive tried everything i can think of to fix the problem. (tore apart laptop, cleaned, checked heat sink, added thermal compound)any ideas?

i don't think the chip is soldered in. but i havent been able to find anywhere online to buy a better processor for that motherboard

It looks like others are having the same problem with overheating. I found a forum where someone recommends underclocking the CPU. You may want to try that. I could not find a better processor for your MB. It is a S1 Socket. Below are some links that could help.

A list of capatible processors from Wikipedia. It looks like your is 31W at 2.2Ghz. I did not see anything faster with the same power. There are some S1 35W chips at 2.4Ghz but that may make your issue worse.
