More about : 580 tri sli

Yes, yes, yes!

We love user reviews. Please also post up some pictures of your rig and temps. Are you going to overclock too?

I have the CPU ocd to 4.16ghz, not the cards yet. Possibly after I figure out how to use the NVIDIA control panel.

Please post pictures, and screenshots. If you have Win 7, then please use the sniping tool and upload them to imgur.com.

If you are overclocking these beasts, then I advice you to read up on some guides on using MSI Afterburn, which tends to be the best application at this time.

Thanks for your time, it is things like this that bring this community together.

I also would love to see those beasts in action, I ALMOST pulled the trigger on a pair of them, but I don't know if my power supply could handle it (850W) and I have no money lol!

take some pictures, and run Metro 2033 at 1920x1200 DX11, that interests me most.

I will have to get Metro 2033, I don't have it yet. Let me run to big box mart and see if they have it. Crysis was the most resource intensive game I have, so I figured I'd bench that.

Well, see, that's why I want you to bench Metro, because that will actually be the most resource intensive game you can bench.

If you buy Metro2033 through steam, they auto update it, and they put a bench program like the Crysis benchmark programs above in the Steam folder.
Its one more thing the developers are doing to help sell the game as the next Crysis.
It has options to apply, all the dx11 physX settings.

Metro is beastly. Turning everything up to max can only be done with a GTX480 + Core i7 and above system.

I'm headed to MC for a few days, get back sun, will bench it then.

Wow I told you to get Quad SLI! You bitched out and got the Rampage Extreme with only 3 pci express slots. You got that 980x OC'd and your gonna let your cpu out perform your graphics cards..... actually 3 580s may bottleneck any system...

is this game any good, or just a good benchmarking game? Might have to give it a shot when I get some time.

can you think of some more benchmarks you would like me to do?

Metro is one of the best single player storys I have ever played, yeah benchmark anything demanding you can think of.

Man you have like $1500 worth of card and your dropping down to 10 fps at the min. Good gravy.

Are you sure something is not wrong? I was hitting 40-45 with 2 GTX 480's @ that resolution

What about 2 way SLi and the third one both dedicated to PhysX and then removed, I just want to see the differences on one machine.

Look the min fps may just be for a quick second, so 10 fps might look alot worse than what it is.

Yes, but I also max at 366 fps.... but only avg 66. So min max don't mean much if only for 1 frame.

That min fps is something they will try to tune-up in drivers. Tri-sli takes some tuning, nothing new. Another driver release will probably pick up double digit %.

Ok, if anyone is still following this, I did a fresh install of windows (figured I had some driver issues from having 5870s before 580s) I also had to upgrade to the newest version of vantage.

Just did a run of 3dmark Vantage got P54771

I will re run through the benchmarks I have already done tomorrow, and try some new ones (different ways too, 1GPU dedicated to PhysX etc. ) Pretty happy with the vantage score except that it says the drivers I'm using are not Verified? how long does that take, as they are the newest drivers on Nvidias site.

Hey MicroTerf, what are your temps hitting under load such as playing Metro 2033 or Crysis on AfterBurner?

That Vantage score rocks brother; I am only hitting 36000 but thats with 2 GTX 480's

House get up to around 80, CPU maxes at like 50 under prime. 36000 is nothing to sneeze at, that's still awesome. It's insane how powerful these things are getting. Gonna OC the cards later when the kids fi to bed, and try to break 60k without bricking the card.

Yeah, temps about on par with my 480's; I am hitting around 82-85 but the fan noise makes my dog bark!

Your fan noise should be pretty quite in comparison; Nice that you have room to OC those cards.

I HIGHLY recommend changing the thermal paste on your GPU. It is really easy to do, and brought my fan speeds down serveral percent at load. The old gunk they used looked like Play-Doh or Silly Putty.

2 of the cards stay in the 50s under load, and one goes into the 80s, I cranked the fans up to 85% though, and it cooled it down, really quiet though, compared to the 4870s/5870s I had before They would sound like a jet taking off. I'm fairly impressed. Sounds smoother. (think porsche vs old Camaro).

I upped the voltage to 1.138 and put the core up to 850, that bumped me up to 55K, I was hoping for a little more, but that's ok I guess. Gonna try to hit 900, but don't want to burn anything up either ;)
