Add memory in gx280

Hello, i want to ask that the memory in all the four slots of my dell gx280 must be of same sped ? I have 512x2 of 400mhz bus. and i want to put a 1gbx1 more of 800 bus? So can i do so ? Plz tell me

from where are you just go to any computer shop and exchange the 2x512s in single 1gb in such condition you can a slot and if you want then you can add 1 more ram later anyway the 2x512 and 1 1gb will also work

Yes, it is possible to use RAM of varying frequencies. The faster RAM will simply down clock to match the lower speed RAM.

Nevertheless, if you put an additional stick of RAM in your computer, it will no longer run in dual channel mode. Dual Channel mode requires that you have an even number of DIMMs installed.

I want to put an additional 2gb of memory stick of 800 mhz bus..But the 512 sticks are of 400 mhz bus. So can i use the full 3gb or i have to get the 512 sticks out?

I am still unclear about the last post of mine that if i go for 400/533 mhz bus speed than can i buy 2 sticks of 1gb or the capacities should also be the same?
Plz exclude any mistakes.

ok i bought 533mhz bus ram of 1gb..but now the 2gb of ram does'nt seem to be much faster as i thought?
Any suggestions why is it so?
