Hi.

I'm building a new Win 7 system this week or next and I'm wondering what to do with my current E-machines machine that has Xp sp3 on it (and Slackware Linux). I'm probably gonna hoze XP and just install Slackware Linux on it.

Anyways, I'm just wondering if the Pentium D 2.66 Ghz CPU that's in it now can be upgraded and if so with what? I'm not home right now so I think I have an E-machines T5216 or 5612 so I don't really know the mobo off hand, but I can look when I get home.

Since, it's a 2nd computer I don't mind leaving the Pentium D 805 in it, but if it's cheap I wouldn't mind ordering a CPU to upgrade it using the same mobo.

thanks :)

thanks. Just dl'd and installed CPUZ! I guess I have an INTEL mobo model D102GGC2 - ATI SB400 (south bridge)
chipset = ATI RS400

CPU = 805 'smithfiled"

That's OK - this will make a nice LINUX Box for programming!
