Sound card drivers for acer aspire

I recently had to replace the hard drive in my acer aspire. When I got the computer back from repair, I had sound and an speaker icon in my taskbar. However now the icon is missing and when I push fn and F8 for the speakers nothing happens. I hope someone on your staff will be able to help me resolve this issue. Thank for reading this.
