Hello All,
I have an old Compaq Armada that will not run on AC if connected to the
power cord. The battery will not charge either. If I place it on the
docking station, the battery will charge and it will run on AC.
Since the battery does not have much juice anymore and I basically use
my laptop as a desktop, I would simply like to run it on AC, provided I
works on the power cord (It is really uncomfortable to use it on the
dock!).
I tried the obvious: different batteries and power cords. I noticed
also that if I remove the battery, the laptop will not start if
connected to the power cord but will start if docked.

Did you really mean to say that if the battery is charged that the
laptop will run on AC? If it will never run on AC then it's likely the
main fuse or the AC jack or the AC adapter (unless the same adapter is
used for the dock).
