CPU
Intel Core i7-2600k (I might downgrade to the i5-2500k, but I plan on doing heavy gaming on high resolution)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070

Mobo
ASUS P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Combo of above 2 things + Civ 5 = 499.98

RAM
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM

PSU - Corsair HX850 or Antec SG 850W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371018

Graphics Card - 2x GeForce GTX 460 (maybe 470s)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130565

SSD - Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148348

HDD - I own 2x 2TB External Harddrives that I'll store most media on, but I'll need something ~500GB for my second drive in this. I might be able to use one from current comp though.

Case -I don't know. I want something that has enough room for sufficient cooling if I decide to overclock, maybe I can find a good combo deal with my PSU.

Cooling - This will be my first time building a computer and I may consider overclocking in the future. I want to make sure the fans are sufficient, but still pretty quiet in non-heavy loads. I would prefer to avoid anything dealing with liquids.

ANYTHING ELSE I'M MISSING? Thermal paste, fans, etc? Anything I can replace for better or cheaper parts?

Approximate Purchase Date: Hopefully this week

Budget Range: Between 1500-1700 I need to purchase Windows 7 with these funds though. I actually realize this might not be doable. How close can I get though?

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming and movies/anime are the most important. I also use video recording software and make videos like Let's Plays and commentaries.

Parts Not Required: Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Probably NewEgg or Amazon.

Country of Origin: United States

Monitor Resolution: I have a dual monitor setup. Main monitor is 30in (2560x1600). I understand gaming Ultra settings on that resolution might be difficult though. How close can I get with my budget?

Overclocking: Maybe, but I've never overclocked before. I don't really plan on doing it unless I'll see huge returns. I would prefer to just keep it cool since I run my computer 16 hours a day.

Cross-Fire/SLI - Yes, it sounds like 2x GTX 460s will do the best for me.

Additional Comments: I am a total noobie. This is my first experience ever building a computer or even picking out individual parts like this. I know I probably forgot pieces so please let me know. Also please inform me if you can think of any potential problems I might face putting this together.

Thank you to everyone. This is an awesome site and I've been doing a ton of research through your articles and forum posts. I would be totally lost without it.

^ Here is a reworked build,
Mainly for gaming even very highe resolutions like your monitor's IMO the 2500K would suffice, also with ability to overclock so nicely, I dont see a good reason to go 2600K

As for the performance of HD 6870 Crossfire
http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-6850-6870-crossfirex-review/

Or you could do this, buy a single HD 6950 for now, and get 1 more by this month-end,... The reason I say this is because Nvidia is going to launch GTX 560 by this month-end and would push AMD to lower the price of its cards,...

This build has dual gtx 570's :)

If this is a gaming build, you can tank the 2600k and go with the 2500k. Check out the benchmarks in those two links...it says it all.

The only problem that I am running into was you didn't have an SSD picked out with that build and it added about $200. In the end, I decided I am willing to pay the extra. Can you guys give my build one last look over. Anything not compatible? Is the case big enough or should I go with the full sized tower? I decided to go with 2x 4GB RAM, but is this overkill for my set up? I will get the larger ones if they will help out. Also, I can pay +10 on each video card for overclocked, is that worth it? Thanks again everyone for their help. You guys are awesome and I'm so excited to start ordering these pieces tonight and tomorrow.

If you can, go for the CoolerMaster HAF 932, extra I know but I have never worked with a better case. I have the 950TX PSU which isn't moduler, BUT with the 932 it doesn't matter as the cable management has helped me hide all spare cables.

Plus, I prefer non-module to module, nothing to back this up but I just feel a little safer not having to worry about the connections between the PSU and the cables.
