Is there a market for linux laptops? Will the average consumer buy a Linux
desktop with open office, firefox, wireless installed ...?
I am interested in the resale market, probably 2 or 3 year old laptops with
a linux install.
What flavor of linux is most compatible with laptops?
I am also interested in finding a laptop wholesaler with wholesale pricing.

I have one running Linux. It is a Tecra 8000 and everything works except
the audio driver. (Including wireless network, and wired network.) Check
out the Linux compatible site for the specific distribution you intend to
use. I have run Lindows/Linspire on a Dell and it fully functioned. I
presently run Suse 9.2 on the 8000 laptop and have tried Linspire, Mandrake
10.2. Fedora Core 3 and 2 on it and they only run with a marginal success.
(The Tecra is not listed as compatible on any distribution.)
So, check out the compatible list, and take your pick. The Linspire
distribution is the easiest to get software installed upon because of their
installation site. Suse is the next easiest with YAST.

FWIW, Suze is very good with driver support, but Mandrake 10 is
excellent, at least on the older (Win98SE vintage) laptops I've
installed on.
