Should I avoid using the AI suite?

I saw my friend has an asus motherboard and uses the AI Suite to monitor the temperatures and such, but I read on some posts that there are better tools out there/less invasive options, is that still the case now?

Installing the ai suite seems to fail because I think some sort of patch is needed (windows 7 64-bit)

Well, I never required a patch, and AI Suite is a reliable system monitor. You should use it unless anyone can reccommend anything better. Although I have yet to find anything.
