Hello,
I am looking for RAM to use with my i7-2600k. I have been looking at the vengeance and dominator line from corsair but they only have ddr3 1600 and up. I was told that the 2600k can only support up to 1333. Am I mistaken? I have heard of a lot of people using the dominator and vengeance series with their cpus.

The Sandy Bridge CPUs officially support only 1066 and 1333 memory. Unofficially, they support 1600, 1866, and 2133 also. For best results, buy only those speeds of RAM because Sandy Bridge has only those memory dividers. For example, if you buy 2000 RAM it will down-clock to the 1866 speed. If you buy 2200 RAM, it will down-clock to 2133.

Sandy Bridge's sweet spot seems to be 1600 CL9 RAM. Buying faster than that is generally a waste of money.
