I'm deciding to purchase a laptop and I'm torn between the following.

Dell Inspirion 15R and the M501R
They have the same configuration, the key specs being as follows:

4GB (2 X 2 GB) 2 DIMM DDR3 1333Mhz
500GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 550v - 1GB

The only difference is between the processors:
15R: Intel® Core™ i5-480M Processor (2.66GHz, 4Threads, turbo boost up to 2.93Ghz, 3M cache)

M501R: AMD Phenom™ II Quad-Core Mobile Processor N930 (2.0GHz, 2M, 3.6GT/s)

I'm on a tight budget so I'm leaning towards the M501R with the AMD processor.

Can you guys tell me how much of a difference there is between the two processors?

I primarily use the laptop for the following softwares:
VMWare workstation
Sony Vegas
Also some on and off gaming.. Nothing to intensive... NBA 2k11 if anything..

Any suggestions would be great!

I think we have have similar discussions to this ....

AMD in multi-threading (more real cores) and Intel in single-thread (turbo).
