Hello people,
I was wondering if my laptop's GPU, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650, will run CoD Black Ops which the recommended requirment is ATI Radeon HD 3870.
Will my GPU run this game?

Most likely it won't run it well. A 5650 in a desktop would have problems running med. settings and a mobility may just crumble. Also consider that a laptop processor may be weak to run it, especially if its a dual core.

Any GPU can run it...it just depends how well you want it to run. The HD5650m isn't the worst IGPU out there, but then again, my HD4850 (much more powerful than your GPU) gets a 55FPS average on 1024x768 / high settings. I'd say at 800x600 (lowest resolution) and all low settings you might pull off ~25-30FPS, but that's if you're lucky.

These people do not know what they are talking about nor do they know what a mobility 5650 is lol. My x1200 integrated graphics can run the game on low. An overclocked 5650 can score around 9000 in 3dmark06 (my x1200 gets 200, no not 2000, 200.). You could probably run it on high with no AA on a fair resolution. Plus, you have an extremely powerful mobile processor. The game will do fine

BTW the 4850 isn't too much more powerful than the card. It's about 20-35% more powerful. Many people doubt the power that mobile GPUs have today. They've come a very long way! :)

Well Jay you have to realize that not everyone likes to game on a Nintendo DS resolution. The 5670 desktop card that my friend had was having trouble running MW2 on high settings with a decent resolution. A mobility 5650 would probably die unless you had graphics on a low and a pretty low resolution, making it look like COD 2.

Lol. That's pretty funny! :D

What resolution does he play on? Most laptops don't go above 1600 x 900 that have the card and most I've seen are usually maxed at 13xx by 7xx.

It wouldn't look like cod 2. You can run it on high just fine. Even at higher resolutions. It's just that a lot of people mis-judge laptops graphics cards, which is very understandable because performance has been terrible in the past (And still many are). They are getting better and better, I've done a lot of research on mobile GPUs and the 5650 is the best bang for buck mobile GPU you can get as of right now.

Enough of that, here's a video of a laptop with the mobility 5650 (overclocked) playing Modern Warfare 2 at highest settings with 4x AA 1920x1080. Enjoy!

@Jay
Yeah interesting video for sure, and you're right they are getting better and better everyday. My only concern is, that was MW2 and hes wanting to run Black Ops. There is quite a performance difference from what I noticed.

@Breachies, What resolution are you wanting to run the game at?

you can run it just fine at about 35-40 fps at med-high settings on 1280x768.
This game is more CPU hungry than GPU, its not optimized, until patches come out, it will have spikes in FPS

The two games are similar in their demands on graphics cards. Where do you see that this game is more demanding than mw2?

They have been usiong the same game engine for ages, requirement from sequel to sequel won't be really big.
I have a friend playing Black ops with a 8600GTS at 1440*900, so I think the Mobile5650 can handle it too
Yes, the mobile 5650 surprisingly is faster stock than the 8600 gts
