New rig will consist of an i5-2500k on the Asus P8P67 Pro board, using just one GTX460, 8G RAM (it was on sale) and a standard SATA II 7200RPM HDD with Win7 64B for now. Plan to eventually spend more time and money to OC the chip, put in an SSD drive, and possibly utilize another GTX460 in SLi in the future, but just need it to run without hassle for now. Found a Corsair CMPSU-650TX for $60 AR today. Anyone have some experience with this PSU before? Will this PSU be sufficient until I can pump some additional cash into the build?

Thanks in advance,
Justin S.

The old Seasonic based one was absolutely kosher, atm they are transitioning from the old Seasonic design to a new Seasonic design, via CWT, atm I think it is up in the air which one you will get.

A good 650W PSU should be able to power almost any build with two GTX460s, but the Corsair TX 650 doesn't have enough PCI-E connectors.
So it will obviously be fine your build, however, it is not really what I would recommend considering what else you can get.

I'd suggest one of these:
Xigmatek NRP-PC602 600W 80Plus Bronze $60 ($20 rebate, $2 shipping)

Xigmatek NRP-PC702 700W 80Plus Bronze $75 ($20 rebate, $2 shipping)
As they have higher efficiency and have reviewed quite well...

Frankly I think either one would be perfectly fine to keep for the lifetime of your build, unless you were hoping to end up with a modular power supply with even higher efficiency or something like that. If you're still set on replacing the PSU down the road then I'll have a look for something else that is even cheaper which you could use, but $40 after rebate will be hard to beat.

Sil, thanks for the reply! I'm going to go with your Xigmatek 700W PSU. I won't be dealing with SLi for at least a few months, and I just needed a nudge toward the right PSU for the new SB build.

Thanks again!

By the way, Newegg is running a 20% off deal on XigmaTek products this weekend (coupon code provided for their e-mail subscribers). I bought the card Sil suggested this 700W unit for $61.95, which will be $41.95 after the $20 MIR arrives.

Thanks again, Sil.
