Linksys wireless-N USB network adapter

I've got a Linksys Wireless-N USB network adapter, and everytime I try to connect to my network it gives the error 223 not connectet to preferred network. I've entered the right key, and I'm about 5 foot away from the wireless router.
All the right drivers are installed, and I'm starting to get really frustrated.
Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance,

  1. Check TCP/IP Properties.

Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.

If those settings were already correct:

    1) Try turning off wireless security and see if it works then.

    2) If not, try a wired connection between computer and router.

If wired works it could be a problem with the wireless mode in the router, could be Access List is enabled (that excludes or includes users by MAC ID unique to the wirelss adapter).

If the wired connection doesn't work it may be a problem with the incoming feed -- speak to your ISP.
