Hello.

I would like to get some help if someone can, please.

Here is my system:

P7P55D-E Socket1156 DDR3 ATX Intel P55 FSB 2133 OC/1600/1333/1066
I7-860 Sockel 1156
Corsair Modular Power Supply 650W
ANTEC MidiTower P183
4x PATRIOT 4GB DDR3 1333MHz
Intel Postville 160GB SATA SSD 6,4cm 2.5Zoll 34nm MLC
Geforce GTS 250 1024MB DDR3 256BIT

I would like to replace my motherboard and RAMs for new ones (better ones) and since I am not that much into tech, looking for help here.

Can someone give me list of which motherboards are compatible with the rest of the system? (Asus or other companies, if possible)

Is there any web page, where I can check for compatibility?

Any help would be really aprishiated.

Goto newegg.com and search for mobo with 1156 socket.
Decide on something better than the one you currently have then check the manufacturers website for it's Memory Compatibility list.
Decide and then ask us how the combo will work.
Rest of the stuff in your rig is standard so it's compatible with every thing else in the rig.

Here's a list of Mobo from there
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=E...

Of course a lot of stuff depends on whether or not you plan to SLI the rig later, the Budget you're working with and a few other things.

Is a great board ,everything is ok.

It is a P55 Chipset and 1156 Socket. The board is good and everything else too.
But it's the same chipset as your previous one, the P7P55D-E so I wouldn't call it a step up, the only difference between the boards is that ASUS TurboV Remote and added SLI support.
And tragically, they don't have any other supporting higher chipset for that socket.
So that leaves you with very little choice, you have to choose between the one you have already chosen the P7P55 WS Super Computer,Maximus III Extreme, Maximus III Formula & Maximus III GENE or SABERTOOTH 55i.
SO firstly comes the budget and availability of these boards , where you are, decide and give us another choice between your board and these boards. If all of them are out of the budget then the one you have chosen wil do fine, but, if not, then go for any one of the ones I've mentioned here and they are really worth a good price and have a great life.

Thanks alyoshka. I think Sabertooth 55i should be in our stores. It is within the budget, even cheaper then p7p55d-e. :)

Just checking the compatible RAM, and I see KINGSTON
KVR1066D3N7/4G - 4GB is compatible. Great!

so I guess it will go with this. Thanks for all the help. Really aprishiate it.

Ok, another slight change would be to opt for a 1600 DDR3 RAM...
That'll help you in the long run.
December 15, 2011 6:22:51 AM

additional question, just to be sure:

If i want to use 16GB of RAM, I need 4x 4 sticks. If I look on the list of compatible RAMs, only Kingston KVR1066D3N7/4G is compatible.

So, 4 sticks of KINGSTON DDR3 1066MHz CL7 should be just OK? :??:  Don't want to buy wrong ones.

thanks for all the help.

alyoshka, can you point me to the direct article number? Since if I look at the compatible RAM list, there is only 1066 RAM that is compatible. As far as I can see

:-/

Your motherboard and RAM are good ones and I can not see any good reason to spend the cost of a new motherboard+RAMs to be better...
May we know the main reason for the need to change? like do you suffer any performance issue?

These four from Kingston are mentioned in the QVL on the First Page of the PDF under the 1600MHz timings Section

KINGSTON KHX12800D3LLK3/3GX(XMP) 3GB ( 3 x 1GB )
KINGSTON KHX12800D3K3/12GX(XMP) 12GB ( 3 x 4GB )
KINGSTON KHX12800D3K2/4G 4GB ( 2 x 2GB)
KINGSTON KHX12800D3LLK3/6GX(XMP) 6GB ( 3 x 2GB )

randomkid: yes. I have problems with motherboard or RAM from the start. Constant BSOD, bluescreens, crashing comp... and lately only 8 GB ram recognised instead of 16. I am really tired with guessing what is wrong since I am not a computer person. There is something worng with motherboard or RAM and i decided to replace both and give windows system another/last try.
December 15, 2011 6:41:21 AM

alyoshka: these are mainly 2gb sticks. If I want 16GB RAM, I need 4x4GB sticks, and the only ones are KINGSTON 1066.

I have Crucial CT51264BD160B 4GB (1600 MHz, 240, CL11) DDR3-RAM in our shop, would this be OK? It is not on the list of compatible rams tho :-/

If it's not on the QVL , I'd avoid recommending it for an Asus board, they are very finicky with their RAMs.
This is there in a set of 3 I think and they're 4GB sticks, it might not be that big a problem to find 1 Single same stick of RAM for the same Model.
Try looking at other manufacturers and their availability, if nothing else comes your way because of the limited option you can go for the one you had opted on
KINGSTON KVR1066D3N7/4G.
By the way you can check these out on newegg

I see. Got this one: KINGSTON HyperX 4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 non-ECC DIMM

Is this OK?

(don't be mad, if I ask that much)

Yup, Kingstons are the RAM that work with almost every mobo. I still have to see them having a problem.
And it's your money and your rig, I couldn't possibly be mad at the number of questions, or, I wouldn't be here. Actually the more the question the better for all of us.

GREAT! Will order now, willing to risk those $$ if system will work. :)

thanks for all the help, I really aprishiate it.

just a short question more:

I have this option
Kingston 4 x 4 GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL9 HyperX PC Memory Modules (KHX1600C9D3K4/16GX)

these are 4 stick together. Is it the right one? :)  I promise it is my last question.

Thanks.

December 15, 2011 1:58:17 PM

Yup, it's the right RAM.
December 15, 2011 2:02:47 PM

Problem is, that there are two different codes:

KHX1600C9D3K4/16GX for 4 x 4GB kit

KHX12800D3K3/12GX(XMP) for 3 x 4GB kit

ok, last number is for number of sticks... but 1600 and 12800 confuses me. Although in 4GB kit there is PC3-12800 mentioned in specs.

Can someone clearify this to me? I am soo confused now :??:  :??:

in the list of compatible rams for this board is:
KINGSTON
KHX12800D3K3/12GX(XMP)
12GB ( 3 x 4GB )
DS
-
-
9(1066-9-9-9-24)

Is this the same (1 module more) as ---> KHX1600C9D3K4/16GX for 4 x 4GB kit ?

Thanks a lot.

THANK YOU!

Already ordered. Now let's see. :)

December 16, 2011 5:27:10 PM

Cr*p :(

I ordered Sabretooth 55i and in other shop also Kingston 4x 4GB kit /16GX.

But now they noticed me that motherboard is sold out. Now I am stuck with RAMs and no motherboard. :fou:

My question is:

Are these Kingston RAM KHX1600C9D3K4 also on compatible list for motherboard Maximus III Formula?

What is difference between these two motherboards (Sabretooth 55i and Maximus III Formula)

Thanks again. :ange:

That model is not in the QVL, but, don't worry since Kingston make it's RAM very very compatible with all Mobos.
Don't worry yourself over it.

The Sabertooth is a, lets say, quiet a bit on the lower side from the enthusiasts POV. The M3F is a wet dream.....:)
It's got a lot more features then you might ever explore...... so stay with it it's a very very nice board. You'll see, OC capabilities are a lot more and a lot more easier.
December 17, 2011 9:54:14 AM

So I can still use bought RAMs with M3F?

I still have two chances to buy Sabertooth 55i and I am waiting for reply emails from shops. Can't believe that it is so hard to find it in Europe. :(

If there won't be any, I will go with M3F.

Thanks.

Yes, you can use them with the M3F :)
December 19, 2011 11:58:31 AM

alyoshka (or someone else): sorry to bother again. But seems like all motherboards in Europe are sold out. :(

I'd like to ask if my RAMS (Kingston RAM KHX1600C9D3K4, 4x4GB) are OK to go with MAXIMUS III GENE and if all together is OK for my system?

It is the only motherboard, that it is available to buy.

Thank you very much for your reply

And again BIG thanks for all the help here.

Yes, it is in a lot of ways but it usually depends on what the user is looking for and what all they would actually be using.
