$800 - $1500 Budget HD Video Editing with Adobe Premiere

Hey all this is my first build that I will probably use for freelance HD video editing. I will be using primarily Adobe CS5 Premiere. I will probably use AVID in the future, but that's not my main concern.

Approximate Purchase Date: Anytime before January 30.

Budget Range: $800-$1500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Adobe CS5 Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Avid in the future.

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit) and power supply (Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015).

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Amazon

Country of Origin: USA, California

Parts Preferences: Sandy Bridge, dual 24 monitor setup, mid tower case.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: SLI in a future upgrade, but not relevant right now.

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, please.

Additional Comments: As mentioned earlier, this PC will be only for video editing. I will probably not hook it up to the internet (except for driver updates) or play any games on it. I would preferably keep the price below $1000, but I am willing to compensate money for performance. Also, I don't want to spend a lot for a decent graphics card (main reason why I switched from AVID to Adobe).

Will not be doing RAID, but I will need two hard drives. Not sure if I should get a SSD.

Here's a build that I've configured with a lot of help.

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3

GPU: EVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM
I already have the 1 TB version.

I've looked relentlessly around the forum for awhile now for builds concerning only video editing, but to no avail. I hope you good people can help me out :)

  1. I have to bump this thread as I am in the process of doing almost the exact same thing. Any help on this topic with the i5 2500 as a base would be great.
