Looking to build a new machine in the next month or two.

Uses: Gaming, 3d apps, graphics apps

Budget: $2000-2300

MOBO: ASUS P8P67 PRO (couldn't really tell much difference between this and the Deluxe, so please advise if it's worth it)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131682

CPU:Intel Core i7-2600K
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115070

CASE: (original reason for going full tower was size for video card, but the mid version seems to have adequate room, full tower worth the extra $100 for components like frontside usb 3.0?)

COOLER MASTER HAF X
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119225
or

COOLER MASTER HAF 922
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197&cm_re=coolermaster_922-_-11-119-197-_-Product

GPU:EVGA SuperClocked GeForce GTX 580 (not sure if the extra 30 bucks is worth it. Going single card due to 3d app use which doesn't support SLI, going Nvidia because of CUDA)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130590

PSU:CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-850HX (overkill?)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011

RAM: 2 x G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) (need 16GB for 3d work, really unsure of which RAM, heard 1600 was good, but please advise)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314

SSD:
OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G 2.5" 120GB SATA (For OS and Apps/games. Read reviews where these lose speed over time. Is that still an issue?)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227551

or

Crucial RealSSD C300 (worth it?)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148362&cm_re=c300-_-20-148-362-_-Product

STORAGE:Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533

HEATSINK: COOLER MASTER V8
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103055

DVD:ASUS Black 24X DVD+R
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204

No components are completely final so feel free to comment on any of them, just know I want to go single card for now.

Thanks!

Solution
^^ Good parts,...

Some suggestions -
Mobo - The PRO has all you need, except for the dual-LAN, 16+2 Power(Advantageous only if overclocking very high - say above 4.3GHz as even the PRO can do that much) and the front panel USB, which can be got by using this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817997021

This also doubles up as a adapter for 2.5" HDD and fixes the issue of the non-availability of front panel USB3.0 on the HAF 922

HAF 22 - $10 coupon code: EMCKJJG33 (ends 1/19)

RAM - IMO as you will be populating all the 4 RAM slots, go with lower speed, tighter timings,... Same price, 1333MHz CAS 7
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231402

Video card - IMO the GTX 570 is a better value...

+1 for those suggestions. That CM V8 was junk from the get go.

With the money saved there, you could get one more SSD say 60GB as a scratch disk ;)

SSD - The OCZ is good enough and better value,...
Get the 3.5" version, cheaper with rebates

HDD - Samsung F3 would be a better option and is currently on sale,....
$15 off with promo code HARDOCP112C, ends 1/19
