Hi all;
Im
sure Im going to have to do some upgrading but Im not sure which direction to go. But I do know what I want to achieve, so any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!
First Id like to say I am a flight sim enthusiast and the TH2go works great(issues w/ATI I have to trick the video card by switching monitor inputs without restarting to get 3840x1024 ) but I think I want and can get more resolution. For example in the game Lock On with just one monitor I can zoom out and see the entire cockpit, but with th2go hooked up I can still zoom out but not as far as with one monitor (can only see about half of the front panel. Is this a resolution issue, and can it be fixed by changing video cards? I dont know if what Im think is correct, but 1920x1080 resolution multiplied by 3 ie;(matrox TH2go) is 5760x3240, (right)? I think if can get greater resolution than I should be able to zoom out further and see the entire cockpit with TH2go hooked up to the three monitors? I know TH2go max res is 3840x1024 but would a better graphics card make differance since the monitors are maxed at 1920x1080?

That resolution would be 9 screens, 3 screens is just 5760x1080. All the new ATI cards can support 3 monitors at 1080p, NVIDIA takes 2 cards to do it. What games are you playing and at what detail levels, and what are your system specs and budget?

5760x1080 would be better than 3840x1024 I think? I have not been playing anything cause Im trying to get the system configured however I have lockon, ka50 black shark, and fs2000. The guy at matrox support said the th2go has issues with ATI so if I can get the resolution I want with two NVIDIA cards then Ill get them. I just dont know wich ones to get. Also Im sure Ill have to upgrade the mother board, my current one only has 1xAGP and the old standard PCI slots.

TripleHead2GO 3xsyncmaster B2430 displays max res 1920x1080

as for the detail levels in the games I try to keep it to low detail as to not take away from performanc but with a more powerfull system Im sure I could boost up the level of details

First, go to Matrox's compatibility wizard: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/compatibility/gxm/ and find your card. According to that (if you have the digital version of th2go) the max you can get with that card is 5040x1050 - (3x1680x1050). The catch is that your card has to have dual-link DVI.
You have an AGP card and I am thinking that it's unlikely that it would have dual-link DVI.
Also, you have probably the best AGP card available, so there is no real way to upgrade from that. You should probably look into a motherboard upgrade.
The previous poster is right, that the resolution you give is for 9 monitors, not 3. You will need 3 cards (therefore, a MB with 3 PCI-Express slots) to support that.

To get such a setup, you will sink a bunch of money into this - I would upgrade my CPU and memory first.

BTW, with HD 5xxx and 6xxx ATI cards you will possibly not need to use any th2go units (it's called EyeFinity).

Ok...Well dont you love hind sight, guess I shouldve done more home work, turns out I have the wrong triplehead 2go, I have the analog version and need the DP version to get the resolution Im looking for. But before I make an exchange I will research the eyefinity from what your saying it does the same thing as the th2go?

Here is a list of cards I found from http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/ [...] ility/gxm/
thanks to lucas; that will give the resolution im looking for...

Thanks youngster
