9800GT 1GB vs. HD5670 1GB (Do I complain?)

Hello, All

My Nvidia Geforce 9800GT recently died in my HP Pavillon rig. With my warranty still valid I sent it to their support section and it came back with a Geforce 230GT 1,5GB, which is a considerably inferior card. So I complained and they told me they would send me a new card. 3 days later it arrived - a HD5670 1GB. I've done a lot of searches to found out whether to send this card back aswell, but my findings have me puzzled. I seems the difference is very slight, and frankly I fear they'll send an inferior card again.

So, what do I do. Send it back and ask for a new 9800GT or what. What is the Radeon equiavalent of the 9800GT 1GB - a HD5750/HD5770 1GB?

Thanks so much in advance

Take a look at this chart, which is a composite of many benchmarks: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2010-gaming-graphics...

It would seem the 5670 has better performance overall. The 9800GTX is the one that is closest in performance, not the GT model.

Unless you really like PhysX (i.e. - have a few games that uses GPU accelerated physX), this current card seems to have better performance and has DX11.

A GTS 250 is a 9800GTX+ and is slightly better than a 4850/5750, the next step down is to the 9800GTX which is a bit better than a 4770, and a 9800GT is about equal to a 5670. If they send you a new 9800GT they will send you the eco version which will be slower than your older one. There arent many 9xxx cards still being sent out new so they arent going to replace it with another 9800GT likely because i doubt they have any.

Take a look at tom's hierarchy chart to get an idea of what cards are in the same tier together.

That comparison was on spec's. It's always best to compare benchmarks, as there are a lot of other factors that determine performance.
