Hi all. I am trying to find an answer here to help my friend. He was installing his cpu and somehow he got thermal paste on the cpu pins. He said his system is toast now and he is going to scrap the motherboard.

I suggested an ultra fine real hair paint brush conservatively dipped in iso so there is no dripping and a light brush over as many times as it takes. Is this possible/feasable? A bad idea to try or is the motherboard a gonner??

Thanks.

So the thermal paste is on the motherboard pins ? I would try a small spray bottle with a fine spray , no brushes no matter how fine and tip the board on its side to let the liquid run off and just keep spraying untill it's off. Those pins are so fragile that almost anything will bend them even the spray could bend them so go gently , it may take some time but if you want to save the board then you have to.
