Is AMD athlon II x2 250 dual core good for games

The Athlon II X2 3Ghz would be "OK" for gaming, with a 4850 at Lower resolutions & lower levels of detail....

But, I'd highly recommend upgrading to a quad core (X4) athlon. The 4850 GPU is pretty old, I'd like to see a 5770 or GTX 460 in a new system.

Ah, your motherboard doesn't appear to be an AM3, it's just an AM2+.

These boards are again, older and use DDR2 RAM which is slower and More Expensive than DDR3 !

Here is the lowest cost Athlon II quad core there is: $99 (get an AMD X4 630, 635, 640, or 645 all will do just a Tiny speed difference, get the fastest and cheapest ....)

I've got to go right now but when I get back I'll post a very low cost recommended system....off NewEgg & Ebay if I have extra time....

My motherboard supports AM3 it says AM2/AM3

The Biostar board will support AM3 CPU BUT, it's Not an AM3 board. You can use it but, you'll pay nearly twice as much for RAM, and the RAM will be much slower than DDR3 RAM....

Here is the RAM for your board...
Support Dual Channel DDR2 533/667/800/1066(1066 by AM2+ CPU) MHz
2 x DDR2 DIMM Memory Slot
Max. Supports up to 8GB Memory

DDR3 RAM runs at 1333/1600/etc MHz... much faster...
