Acceptable Temps for EVGA GTX 260

I am using EVGA Precision to bring my fan up to 100%. But even with that set, while I play EQ2 I am pushing 85 degrees Celsius.
That seems a little hi to me. At idle its around 48 degrees. Nothing is overclocked, its at the default 575core, 1242 shader, 999 memory.

At what point should I start to worry about the temperatures? I've since lowered my resolution in EQ2 to try and take some stress off of it, but it doesn't really seem to help that much.

Any advice would be spiffy. Thanks.

I have a 5970, and I've overclocked it... I only start to back off on activity (or increase fan speed) at about 85 degrees, to avoid hitting the 90's. I'm not sure on the exact temperature tolerance of the 260, but I'd say anything above 90 degrees would be dangerous territory.

Instead of lowering res, perhaps lower a few of the advanced graphic options?

One of the best ways to reduce temps when playing really old games that give me insane FPS, is to turn on V-sync.

Rather than getting 200 FPS, I get 60 FPS. The reality of it all, is I get the same number of actual displayed FPS, no screen tearing, and lower temps.

Unfortunately even though EQ2 is an old game (Came out in 2004), I still only get 20ish FPS on max settings (no AA).

I'll still drop down to 5-8fps in big cities... Bleh.

I don't know what the expansions did to the game since I played, but that does not sound like typical FPS. There may be some problems with your system. What is your system like, and monitor resolution?
