Hello,

Using an ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 AMD Motherboard with an ASUS Radeon 5830.

Occasionally a program/game reads my graphics card as a NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS.

Curious as to why this happens and how I can stop it.

Thanks.

Download GPU-Z and read there what card is showed up...
Make sure you install the right driver.

Occasionally something odd pops up here and this is one of those. So what games and programs that you are using? Older games are known to do this when building their initial settings but you shouldn't be having this problem on a new build with modern games and applications.

What OS are you using, games that you are playing, and programs that you are using? What error codes are you getting?

It shows up like this when Fallout 3 and NV read my settings and when the Blizzard Beta Opt in thing scans my system.

Using Windows 7, doesn't seem to be causing any errors.

I think that you are ok, only just some software bugs nothing much.
