I just put together a new system. After all my programs are loaded, windows registry checker finds an error and goes ahead and fixes it on its own, After the error is fixed(or so it says) upon restarting all of my drivers are gone! this happens in Win98SE, ME, Windows 2000 and XP. can anyone tell me what the problen is here! The board is a DFI ak76sn with a Athlon XP 1600+ processor, 256 DDR ram, diamond viper 550, quantun fireball 20 gig and soundblaster live. It must have something to do with the board or bios but I'm totally stumped. The bios is the latest release to support the XP processor. Can anyone tackle this?

It sounds like one of the programs you are loading is causing this perhaps?

Unless you have 5.1 speaker system, i heartily recommend NOT installing sound blaster playcenter. also the SB DOS drivers have caused me no end of probs in the past. If you dont play games in DOS then you dont need the drivers for it.

If it turns out it is not the hardware causing this problem, but the OSs, this may solve it: Once you manage to get everything loaded on, leave your computer at that point and leave it overnight. It should autosave a copy of the registry at some point. Then in the future if this happens again, it will load the registry file it backed up which should contain all your drivers.

Actually, it turned out to be a faulty motherboard. I replaced the board because it was under warranty(3 days old) and everything works perfectly now. Thanks anyways, and yes, the play center does cause major problems. I don't even dare install that.
