I have a 990XA board and a FX-4100 cpu, (8150 on the way), and 4 sticks of 2gb ram. I've noticed that my bios has Dual channel access disabled by default. I guess my question is why? Is it because I'm using more than two sticks? The mem I have supports Dual channel, but I'm not sure if it has to be in a two stick configuration. What would happen if I enabled the Dual Channel? Would performance increase or decrease? Right now, it's set to run at 1333. Would this have anything to do with it? Thanks in advance for answers.

It's set to 1333.....is it 1333 ram??

I would recommend manually setting the timings, voltage and speed according to the ram stickers.

Dual channel offers better performance than single channel.
