I recently built a gaming computer with the specs listed below. However, I am having trouble running games at optimal settings. This is a high end computer and should easily be able to handle these! My HP was handling it smoother than this. Wtf. I tried playing Napoleon:TW and ArmA2 OA, and ArmA2.. It's giving me issues keeping the frame-rate decent and I don't know why... Please help.

Motherboard: Asus Rampage 3 Formula x58
Processor: Intel i7 950 (OC) @ 3.46ghz| hyper-threading on:yes
CPU heat-sink: Zigmatek Dark Knight w/ zigmatek PTI 63606
Memory: Corsair 6gb DDR3 1333 (OC:1501mhz) triple-channel| Timings 9-9-9-24 5-34-10-5
Graphics: EVGA GTX 580 SC (superclocked) 1.5gb @ 1.6GHz
OS:Windows 7 64bit
Storage: Hitachi 500gb SATA300 7200rpm 30mb cache
Monitor: Samsung p2450 2ms @ 1600x900 (16:9) HDMI

Note: All games were run at 1600x900 res

Just to experiment, why not drop the CPU overclock, and drop the memory to default 1366 MHz timings, set to auto/SPD...

(Check CPU core temps to look for evidence of clock throttling in an overheat condition)

I'd also reinstall appropriate 64 bit Win7 chipset drivers, then appropriate GTX580 driver package.

You are right.....1600x900 is *very* low res for a GTX580

Great--let us know if that fixes things.

Oh, yeah, also, what about your PSU? If your GPU isn't able to draw enough power from your PSU, I believe it could cause exactly the issues you are having. What are your PSU specs?

Reseating the GPU couldn't hurt, and you do have the PSU power connector properly plugged into it, right?

Am I reading this right or did the GTX 460 beat me lol. Shouldn't the scores be higher? I hope one day i will be able to play minecraft on full settings.

Also- I tried playing Napoleon:TW again on "high" 2x AA and anisotropic filtering on 2x.. no effects expect "fog" (the vector whatever) still laggy!!!!.......

Edit* I just re-ran the windows Experience Index and it dropped my grpahics score by 1.2 comapred to the GTX 460... :/
