So what should you look for in motherboards to know what is the right one to buy i don't understand much about them to know what is good and what is not.

Im looking into the LGA 1155 socket mobos for an i7 upgrade. So it'll be using DDR3 ram.

But other than those basics what other technical things depict if the mobo is any good ?

If you don't wanna do Crossfire or Sli oyu can buy one with 1 Pcie 2.0 or2.1 , these are alittle cheaper , it doesn't mean there area bad motherboards. How many USB2.0 and recently 3.0 ports they have, because if you have a few HDD an SSD you need a motherboards with a lot of them. That is reflected in the price of motherboard. The biggest price is the brand, because you a lot more if is a well known brand ,like Asus. A good brand and is not to expensive is Asrock,Biostar.
