I'm looking forward to buying a new graphics card so I'm just wondering how's the ATI 6870? Is there another card that's better? And will the price of the ATI 6870 drop when the new ATI 69xx is out by Dec 13?

Likely the trend of the 5xxx series dropping in price will continue. I would not count on the 6xxx series to drop yet as they are so new.

Thats like saying the 5770 will drop because the 5850 came out. The 69xx cards shouldn't cause the 68xx cards to change in price at all. They are to compete in different price brackets. You'd need Nvidia to change the price of the cards which the 6870 competes with. (GTX460)

If you don't want to buy the 6870, you can consider the 5830, 5850, and GTX460 or 470.

And why is that noob? Nvidia dropped the price of the GTX470 down to $250 now. This leaves the 1GB GTX460 at $200ish, while the 786MB GTX460 to hang around $175-180. No surprise then that the 5830 can be found at $165. Its a response to Nvidia, not the 6870. (directly anyways...)

Since the GTX 460 was released there has been no good reason to buy a HD5830.......it was not even a good value before the GTX 460 to be honest.

The 5830 isn't a bad card. People just expected more from it. Its biggest problem was it was the first of the AMD cards that didn't provide a better bang for buck then its Nvidia counter parts, at least once the GTX460 launched. If the GTX460 is $180 and I can get a 5830 for $150ish, I'd take the 5830. Its not that much slower then the GTX460 1GB.
