P9X79 or RAMPAGE IV EXTREME

Hi I am thinking of buying an X79 board but not sure what one to go for. I have found the following two which I am interested in.

This will be for gaming and the odd 3d movie.

Would be grateful for any advice.

I also wondered if ddr2 ram would work in ddr3 boards as I have 4 gig sticks that are ddr2.

The Rampage IV Extreme is hands down the best X79 board out there, but it is a bit pricey. If you can afford it, you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately you can not use DDR2 memory in a DDR3 board since they use different voltages, timings and physical sockets. On the plus side, DDR3 memory is really cheap right now
