System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (COD games, Starcraft 2 and much more on high settings), video editing (After Effects CS5 and Sony Vegas 10), usual web browsing/chatting, and photoshopping (Adobe Photoshop).

Parts Not Required: Keyboard and mouse.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.com and Microcenter.com

Country of Origin: California, United States

Parts Preferences: Nice resolution and crisp monitor and an Antec Nine Hundred.

I like the Antec 900 case, but unmodded, the cable management is pretty rudimentary. And it does not come with a case (system) speaker.

Because this is your first build, look at the following threads while you are waiting for your parts.
Build it yourself:

And although this primarily a troubleshooting thread, the first part contains a checklist that will catch most noob mistakes:

One thing I noticed right away, the 5770 is not a good choice for 1920x1080. I would get at least a 6850 or a gtx 460 1gb.

+1 on the Antec 900. adding to what 'jsc' said-> i like the 900 too... but that one is an older model and is missing 'current-tech' stuff such as: no front fan filters (something they fixed in the 900 II), interior isn't black, no front USB3, no 2.5" bay for ssd's, etc...

you can get a much better video card -> try something like this for ~$1200:

Thanks Mike, since the total went up a little. I decided it won't hurt going to i7. Can you please give me an i7 2600K SB build list? Thanks. -David

you can use the exact same build... just swap the i5-2500K with the i7-2600K

everything else can stay exactly the same
January 16, 2011 5:41:00 PM

I like wasupmike's build but, I would swap .....

MoBo - $495 - ASUS P8P67 Pro http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...
CPU - incl above - Intel Core i5-2600K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Spinpoint F3 1TB is now $55 w/ promo code BTW

I'd get an LED monitor insread of older CCFL lit designs
Monitor - $180 - ASUS VE247H 23.6" LED http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

And I'd take this 460 or 470 over the 6850 ...

This superclocked 460 1GB is $5 cheaper than the 6850, has lifetime guarantee and comes with free Just Cause 2 game ($40 on amazon) .... or a net cost of only $120
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

This 470 is $220 and comes w/a free Mafia 2 Game Coupon ($35 on amazon)
GFX - $220 - ASUS ENGTX470/2DI/1280MD5 GeForce GTX 470 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

The 650 TX is fine for a single 460 or 470 GTX but it's not certified for twin 460's or 470's.

This $69 Antec is certified for twin 460's.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

This XFX Black Editioin 850 gets a 10.0 performance rating on jonnyguru and can handle twin 470's
