Hi all,i was wondering does anyone know when i new card is released,ie 6870,roughly how long does it take before we start to see after market ones with higher clock speeds and after market cooling systems on them?
If I remember the reviews correctly the 6870 was to be stock for awhile, while the 6850 was free to be "modded" at launch. Not sure why this is, perhaps there are some requirements we aren't aware of. I think higher end parts tend to remain stock for longer. It takes time to test new sinks/fans to make sure they will work as well as stock.

Sometimes you see such cards immediately. EVGA recently delivered a superclocked version of the GTX580 at launch.
I like to think don't do today what you can do tomorrow, for tomorrow you might regret your premature action.
Well i was going to get a 6870 but was thinking of waiting for a aftermarket one but reading through the posts you all make a good point, guess ill just have to wait a while longer.
