Dell Inspiron 1526

Hello everyone,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1526 with vista on it and its not running too great performance wise. I am considering putting either windows 7 (maybe with some aero features disabled) on it or xp, but I don't know the better choice. Here are the specs:
AMD Sempron 36000+ @ 2.0 GHZ
1 GB of RAM
ATI Radeon X1270
60 GB HDD

I would take the $100 the OS is going to cost you and install more memory. For $100 you could add 1GB of RAM and possibly update your HDD which will do more for your performance than getting a new OS.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I actually already have both operating systems. I just don't want to spend time finding drivers for one of them and finding out that its still pretty slow.

Personally, I don't know about Windows 7; Windows XP, I would say it's guaranteed to have faster performance.

If you already have both XP would be faster. It is much leaner than win7. Can't beat XP for performance.
