Hi, i know this has been asked numerous times but im looking for a slightly different answer. Im looking to upgrade my Mobo and CPU. im pretty set on a P67 i7 2600 combo. i have a HD6870 and a 700w PSU. I do a fair bit of gaming and my pc is used as a media server thoughout my house so HDD slots are important. here is my main issue. I am strapped for cash, but with saving can probably get to a pro or deluxe. I just need to know whether it's worth it. I have no intention of overclocking(except for RAM maybe). So, basicly, would the standard P8P67 do or would it be worth saving for the pro or deluxe?

Thanx in advance for any and all help given. Much appreciated.

If you want the maximum number of SATA ports then you should consider ASRock. The mobo that I have P67 Extreme6 has 10 SATA: 4 SATA 2.0 & 6 SATA 3.0. There are other ASRock offerings that are Gen 3 boards and have 10 SATA ports: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627+600093977+600029916+600054095&QksAutoSuggestion=&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Configurator=&IsNodeId=1&Subcategory=280&description=&hisInDesc=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&AdvancedSearch=1&srchInDesc=

You really need to go 2500K for a gaming build (the media capability is negligible; any of these CPUs will eat it up). Overclocking is safe and easy, and with just a couple of bins you'll have a $220 2600. The $280 2600 is a waste of money if you don't do media work for a living.

thanx for all the replies. you guys really quick to help. however, i need to explain further, as I mentioned im strapped for cash. the only reason im upgrading is cause i have an in-store credit after returning a defective product and my friend, who owns a different PC shop can get me an AMAZING price on the 2600(extra stock i think). I actually considered the z68 but for some reason the prices here (in South Africa) arent as close as one might think. for example the difference between a p67 deluxe and z68 deluxe is almost $100.

so basicly, Im stuck with a 2600 and a P8P67. I'm just not sure the pro or deluxe offer me anough extra as im not over clocking.
