My first laptop - have been working with a Mac, a present, for few years
and now suffering from frustration syndrome!
My needs: ordinary word-processing / download music (often for two hours
or so) / burning CDs / mastering DVDs.
Dell's offers seem attractive. Are the systems reliable, and which model
should I look for? Any other comments welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

the DVD mastering sounds like a powerbook job to me, but as you appear to be
fed up of mac's have a look at allienware's laptops, from that point of
view.

But like everyone else says, stay with the big guys. I like Vaio's(sony) but
you get design over value, either way get something fairly powerful 2.8ghz
min i say.
