hi and greetings to all the members of toms hardware this is my first thread at this website.....this is also my first gaming build i am building a 1000 $ rig....as i dont live in the US i am having one of my relatives ship the products...so i want to ask i came across this website www.microcenter.com they are selling intel CPU"S at a price which is cheaper than newegg and amazon ...i want to ask are they legit?and they also mention something about a 18 minute pickup and in store saving anyone having experience in dealing with microcenter please help me??also i want to ask which build is more suited to gaming and medium load multi-tasking like matlab,photoshop:

Firstly, Microcentre is indeed legit and they do fantastic CPU deals - makes me jealous I am not in US.

Secondly, the i5 2500k outperforms the old tech and tends to be cheaper, so definately go with 2nd build

I'd opt for the 2500k based/option 2 rig, personally....

The first one is good but outdated now. So I'd recommend the second one however, why not go with the GTX 570? A much better GPU at a similar price. And yeah, microcenter is definitely legit. 750 watts is a lot unless you are planning on SLI'ing in the future.

yes i will sli in future also i have found out that there is a bios hack which converts the 6950 into a 6970 or into a gtx 570......there isnt any problem with this right?
