Please Help With Eyefinity!!!

Hey Guys,

I've just recently built my machine:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
GPU: Saphire Radeon HD 5970 2GB
PSU: 850W Corsair
RAM: 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 4 x 2GB
MOBO: 890FXA-UD7
SSD: Revo 120GB (2x 60GB running in raid 1)
HDD: Wester Digital 1TB

Heres the problem, I finnaly turned 14 so i could get a job and buy another monitor (a third), but i cannot decide on which adapter to buy, the 3 monitors are G245H's and they have a VGA, DVI and a HDMI. Where as i need to use the display port on my GPU. I went on ebay and saw that there were DisplayPort to DVI (or VGA), but these were not active. Is this going to matter with my GPU.

Example:

  1. Get an active one, you can probably get a sapphire one for about 30 USD, not sure what that is in Aus.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=active+displayport&x=0&y=0

They should be fine for up to 24" screens.
  2. Just out of curiocity, why not a passive?
  3. It might work, it might not. Some people say they do but if AMD say use an active one, that's what I'd do.

If it helps any, I have the same card and use a Mini-DP to HDMI adaptor with sound supported. It's 12.95 GBP on amazon, I don't know how much they'd cost in the US, but presumably they'd be cheaper. It works amazingly well, so it's not just a cheap solution. By the way - pretty sure it's not a display port, but a mini display port. Check before you buy.
