Hi

I did enabled a router management for Netgear FVS318 V3 and changed a port number from 80 to 62089 as explained in the link below

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1129

and I did enable a free dynamic dns account for the dynamic ip address say it is : forum.dnsalias.org

I did test by doing this :

http://forum.dnsalias.org: 29000

https://forum.dnsalias.org: 29000,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, letter s with http

http://122.56.78.90: 29000,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,this is not the real dynamic ip address

Reason I have used https as stated below

http://tinypic.com/r/2wbrz1i/6

  1. The error message :
  2. The connection has timed out
  3. The server at x.x.x.x is taking too long to respond.
  4. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
  5. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
  6. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

What should I consider for the troubleshooting ?

Thanks

So you changed your router management to allow it to be managed from outside your personal network, Correct?

And you changed the port number from 80 to 62089, correct?

Why are you using "https://forum.dnsalias.org: 29000"? When it should look like this "https://Your.IP.Or.dnsalias:62089" - No space between : and number...

If you changed your port to x, in your addy bar you should type https://what.ever:x and it should prompt you to log in.... You have to be outside your network inorder to test it... if your inside your network you should do http://gateway.ip (default) to access your router....

Did this help or confuse you more?

Yes

Sorry for confusion I should have corrected that .

initially I have used 62166 then I have been advised that the Netgear Documentation :
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1129
says port number between 1024-30000, therefore I have changed the port number form 62166 to 29000

Before changing the port number from 62166 to 29000 I have used those combination :

https://forum.dnsalias.org:62166

http://forum.dnsalias.org:62166

http://122.56.78.90:62166

But it did n't work I am going to try again it form outside network and confirm
