My current hardware setup is thus:
C2D E6750
Asus P5N-E SLI
OCZ 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz
WD Caviar Black 1 TB 7200 RPM
GTX 460 768 MB(Not that it matters really)

I'm looking at upgrading to an i7 950, P6X58D Premium and whatever RAM I can find that's decent.

Will I have to reinstall Windows 7 if I make this hardware swap? I would really prefer not to if I can avoid it because I'll have to spend a really long time downloading games again. Could I repair?

Hmm, good question--you'll have the wrong motherboard drivers installed, but, if you can start up in Safe Mode at least, I imagine you can just uninstall the incorrect drivers and install the right motherboard drivers, and then hopefully should be good to go. Don't know if this will actually work, but it's worth a try, at least!
