question about power play and flash player

Is there a way to prevent my card from automatically using 3d clocks when I visit sites that use flash players such as youtube? I watch 720p videos from my hard drive and my card barely has to switch to 3d clocks while watching those, so why does merely having a youtube video running in the background force my card to stay at 3d clocks until I close that window? I could really go without the additional 5 celsius that it adds to my temps. It was never like this before the 10.0 drivers. I have a Sapphire 4850x2 if that helps.
