The 9700 is a desktop model number, the dv9700 series is a laptop but there is no dv9700us. And there's a huge list. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Produc... You can update the graphics driver and look in windows audio control panel and see if it says hd audio that you can select. There was an issue with a couple of the nvidia drivers.
You are absolutly correct my laptops are DV9700 models. I connected the HP Wireless connect device to my Playstation 3 and I got audio out of that so it is a problem with my laptops. I've received an update or problem with the Nividia Graphics so I'll follow through on that. I believe I updated Nividia before and I had trouble with the update and had to do a system restore. I'll try that one more time and see if that fixes my problems. I can't help but to wonder why any manufacturer would install an HDMI port on any PC and not have audio with it. What do I know anyway I'm just an old Marine that has fun with his toys! Thanks for your help.
