Hello. I purchased a 12 gb Kingston triple channel set to add to my original 6gb ocz set for my x58 build. Both sets are ddr3 1600. My pc will not boot with both sets installed, but each set works individually. Any idea what's wrong.
The two RAM kits are probably incompatible. Also if you have windows 7 home premium then you can't use more than 16GB of RAM. That isn't a reason for the computer not to work but if the computer did work and you have home premium only 16GB would be accessible.

So you want 18gb of ram in your Pc? I would just use the 12gb set , you can't possibly use more than that.
Why couldn't someone possibly use more than 12GB of RAM?
I have tried reseating multiple times and still does not work. I tried each set individually and each set works alone. I was under the impression that adding different gig sets was possible. I'm not sure what to do now.
You do not have identical sets of ram there one has the timings of 8-8-8-24 and the other has 9-9-9-27 , so thats why they are not working together the timings have to be the same.
