Monitor or TV? Check if the resolution is set to the default for the monitor. There may also be a setting on the monitor that enables scaling, you may need to turn it on to expand to full screen.

I could suggest that you have accidentally pressed a button of your monitor that adjust the display ratio, of the monitor, from 16:9 to 4:3.

Hope it helps

In most screens there is a reset option.. select that and it should adjust to the proper resolution.

Also in my case, when I got 24" LCD whenever I do a new install, I needed to adjust scaling in my catalyst only, no setting on the Dell monitor.

I had 1 inch black stripes on each side.

Try adjusting your display resolution to see if that corrects the issue.

I accidentally changed the resolution, must be with a shortcut built into Vista.
