Hello, I have a dilema about buy a new desktop or just upgrade a motherboard and a cpu ( dual or 3 core) ....?...my pc is 6 years old is a HP pavillion A1210N ...I upgrade the grafic card , also a video turner and a hardrive ,...is a pentium AMD 64 , I am using a windows 7 ultimate and works fine but sometimes is slow ...I was looking in stores for a best deal but most are from more than $400.00 or alittle bit less and was thinking if just upgarde in this way will be good ?...also I will prefer a motherboard capable to a cpu upgrade ...please I am open to some recomedations , thanks

I recommend newegg's shellshocker combo specials. They don't have any today, but may have one more this week. Some of them come with everything you need to build your own system. These special packages come with a 25% discount (and no, I don't work at newegg). Here is a typical upgrade package if you want to buy everything separately, and I recommend you replace the power supply:

The last item is open box, which may not come with the driver, but windows 7 will find it and you can download it later if needed.

Hardrives are very expensive right now. Some shellshocker packages come with them. I recommend you sit tight for a few days and see if newegg has another one that you can use. View some videos if you've never replaced a motherboard. Use an esd strap when handling the motherboard, cpu, or memory to ground your body to prevent static discharge. Read the motherboard manual and leave the components alone for awhile until you understand how to handle, test, and mount the board inside the case. It's not rocket science, but you may make a mistake and blame the board. So take your time. If you don't feel comfortable, get a dell and check in January at the end of the next quarter when specials may be listed. You can get a complete package with monitor for around $400 or purchase the monitor separately. http://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?p=youtube+build+your+own+computer
