Please Help with suggestions

Recently bought Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit to replace hd4830 512mb both DDR3 . budget restraints.

Have: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz (not oc)
ASUS M3A78-EM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX
Antec earthwatts EA500 500W

My question is with 4830 was getting roughly 85+ fps on lowest settings noAA, and 45+ avg on highest settings in Company of Heroes.
When replaced with 4850 max fps i can get is 50-54 at highest settings.
even at lowest settings FPS doesnt increase over 55.

can anyone give me some ideas as to why this is happening? both cards in CCC seem to be running at fine at stock settings.

There are a few possibilities:
1) Some people forget they lowered image quality settings in the Catalyst control panel, which does effect your in game visual performance. Perhaps you had your previous card set for performance mode in the CCC.
2) The cap of never going over 55 FPS, could be due to having turned on V-sync. V-sync caps your FPS to your monitors refresh rate.
3) Your previous card may have been overclocked, although very unlikely that kind of disparity would exist.
4) While installing new drivers for the new card, you may have stumbled upon a bad set of drivers.

thanks Bystander, turned out drivers on install cd were bad, so downloaded latest CCC update

form website and that cleared up everything. just tweaked card a little and now its working great.
