This is what i have going so far,
ASUS M4A89GTD pro/USB3.0 AM3 890 ATX mobo
Phenom II X 6 1090T black edition cpu
Hitachi 7200 rpm 16 mb cache 500 gig HDD x 2
Kingwin 750 watt atx crossfire x ready psu
ati radeon HD5770 video card x 2
Coolit systems ECO liquid cpu cooler
Windows 7 64 bit
antec dreamer mid sized case.
What would be good memory to go with this set up? cant decide on 6, 8, or 16 gig. what would be good thats not massively expensive and compatable? Budget is 1000.00.

Is this just a gaming computer? if so, check out Sandy bridge, or changing to a phenom 955....

Hitachi 7200 rpm 16 mb cache 500 gig HDD x 2
I assume the X2 means you are doiing RAID.... first, don't get Hitachi! get spinpoint F3... second, a SSD with a larger storage drive would be smarter!

Kingwin 750 watt atx crossfire x ready psu
I don't really like Kingwin... I'd go for a corsair 650 watt PSU, make sure it is certified, but that is a minimum, I'd still say go for 750+ watts... make sure it is certified..

ati radeon HD5770 video card x 2
One higher end GPU would be better because later on you can do crossfire...

Coolit systems ECO liquid cpu cooler
if this is your first build, stay away from Liquid... I'd go for a coolermaster H212....

antec dreamer mid sized case.
full size case... antec 300 is good...

=o, you don't NEED more then 4 gigs, if you are going to do video editing(not just the occasional vid), then look at more... 6 gigs is for core i7s... 4 gigs 1600mhz g.skill RAM is great!

The reason for the 2 hd5770 cards is that i have one already. i thought i would crossfire 2 of them. it would be cheaper than buying a 6000 series card. As for the HDD's, the hitachi's had very good ratings and a great price for 2 500 gig drives. 80.00. i am a building noob so i must ask, what is RAID and SSD? sorry.

no problem dude, Hitachi has a.... reputation for being junk, and spinpoint F3s are reliable, plus have good performance. Raid is Redundant Array of Independent discs... check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID . SSD is Solid State Drive, basically a Harddrive, but more expensive, and VERY fast... usually used for OS and a few games.. I recommdend one with Sandforce firmware, and around 60 gigs... that is about 150$ish, definitly worth it, mine installed windows 7 in 10 minutes, and 12 seconds... lol I clocked it.

Edit: I think spinpoint drives are cheaper tooo...
