Intel i2500k & GA P67 UD3

Hi guys,
I just got a good deal at Microcenter combo i2500k & ga p67ud3 and psu antec 500w earthwatt.
I want to build a new pc for my son to play SC2 under OS Win7 64.
Which video card is good for sc2 andatching with my psu. Im gonna get 8g of ram.
I already had an old aluminum atx case, is it good for a new system?
What kind of mouse and keyboard for the game?
Any help will be appriciated. Thanks.

  1. I've never had any issues with either an $8 USB keyboard or a $12 mouse....; that people think that a 'gaming mouse' or 'gaming keyboard' is worthe any more than $10 each is ludicrous, IMO....

Video card? Try to get at least GTX570 if you can swing it.....

    What's the monitor screen resolution... Example: 1920 x 1080

What's your budget for said vid card ?
  3. I have a asus vk246h, my range between $120-150 for videocard. is it enough to play sc2. Do i need ssd too? Thanks for supporting.

The major bottle neck in that build is your psu. It won't push a high end vid card. You can give this one down below a go, but with your monitors resolution your that game won't be playable on high settings. Medium settings at best imo. Now if that psu was new in the box and could be returned for something like a solid 520w - 550w you would be able to run a better card than this one down below for sub $200.

  5. Hi Whyme
Yes i can return the psu. My mornitor cant run at high setting so can i get one of these

SAPPHIRE 100283-3L Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
    Gigabyte
    GV-N450-1GI GeForce GTS 450 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 2.0 x16 Graphics Card
    Thanks a lot.
  6. You'll need a video card that can perform well at the ASUS VK246H's native resolution of 1920X1080.

The SAPPHIRE 100283-3L Radeon HD 5770 1GB would be a good choice.

The Antec earthwatts EA500 500 Watt power supply unit is capable of handling that graphics card and the rest of your system with no problems.
  7. Do i need 650w psu for future add-on or overclock my i5?
Is my cpu stock heatsink can handle oc up to 4gh?
    Thanks.
  8. What are you planning on adding in the future, a second graphics card for CrossfireX? If you are then the Antec earthwatts EA500 500 Watt power supply unit isn't enough.

I wouldn't trust a stock CPU cooling solution when overclocking.
  9. Im just planning to get ssd when the price going down and another optical drive.
My old aluminum atx case ( about 7 years old) has 2 fans in front and 1 in back. Is it enough airflow for my new system? Thanks.

An SSD requires only 2 Watts and an Optical drive around 18 Watts. That's a very low power requirement.

The Antec EarthWatts EA500 500 Watt power supply unit is still capable of handling it all with headroom for overclocking.
