I wouldn't cut down on the motherboard any. For what it seems you want to do with your rig (gaming and such,) you'll want a decent motherboard. The one you have isn't bad, but if you're going to get a full size tower, you might as well get a mobo with a larger form factor. Double check it, but I think this one will work with what you want to get: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131668

It uses the same chipset, can support the same amount of RAM, and has the same onboard graphics (not that you need it,) but it has a lot more expansion slots. Plus, it has some USB 3.0 ports, which would be nice to already have once the standard becomes more widely used. Most of all, it doesn't cost that much more, so if you don't mind throwing in a few extra bucks, it would probably be worth it.

As far as the case itself is concerned, for the rig you're looking at, this case might be more suitable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

I can personally attest to how great the Antec 900 case is, since I'm using one for my current rig. I've got a similar build to what you want to do, (quad core, 8 gigs of ram, two hard drives, good graphics,) and this case has plenty of room, and keeps things nice and cool without adding any extra fans or special cooling system. It's so big that it really is closer to a full size tower than most mid size towers. Plus, it'll work with that mobo I mentioned above. On top of that, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than what you suggested. :)

I've got an ATI Radeon HD 4870 which looks to be similar in size to the card you want, and it fits just fine in the Antec 900, no sweat.
