I had been dreaming of the best graphics settings possible in a battlefield game since the last time I managed it back in the BF2 days. Today, I finally beat BC2 on the highest settings, thanks of my sweet new rig.
Asus m4a89gtd pro
I come home from dinner, ready to start dominating fools for the first time in multiplayer and I have no image. Nothing. I pull the VGA out restart and I have video. I guess the mobos graphics are working fine, but why would my VGA crap out like that?
I'm pretty confident I made a noob mistake here, can some one lead me in the right direction.
It doesnt matter which PCIe I put it in, I get nothing. I get no picture with it in, but when I take it out the on board graphics work fine. I looked around in the bios, and cant say I saw anyway to disable the on board graphics.
The thing is plugged in, I made damn sure that everything is snug. I think it might be the mobo not recognizing it... the fan is running, it actually gets a bit warm after a while of being on. I wish i could try a different video out port, but all I have is a dvi monitor
So I threw the card into my buddies pc and it worked just fine, which leads me to believe its the mobo. I returned my mobo to best buy. Looking to get a new one, any suggestions?
The mobo design is stupid. It has 2 16 lane pcis but it forces you to put this card thing in the top slot and put your vga on the bottom slot. In my case there is very little air movement down there and I imagine it would lead to the vga running hotter.
