Intermittent garbage on screen with ATI 9600 XT

Hello,
I've suddenly got issues with garbage on screen,
System Win XP3 Pro, Asus MB P4 3GHz Saphire 9600 XT (fanless). Checked 'everything' and no new installs for a while it has been very stable. No overclocking no over heating according to MB nor ATI monitor. Running latest Win + ATI drivers on the system.
The garbage seems to be writing over the video buffer and gets worse when I move the PS2-mouse around. The mouse pointer itself also contains some garbage pixels.
It goes away if I can get a screen refresh and then gradually gets back again.
Any ideas??

I've also tested to re-install the 10.2 driver from ATI with no change. I did start a dual display after that and it seemed to even get worse with regards to the garbage. But it cleared to VGA-monitor out of the equation.

I've managed to capture how it looks like on screen and I can send it to you if you're interested.
BTW: the system is strangly enough stable ni all other aspects (knock on wood).
I did first see this after a suspend to operation sequece if that helps?

You can get a 9800 pro very cheaply if you know ware to look. Don't buy fanless cards are they do overheat when under full load for long enough periods of time in a hot room or poor airflow will gradually fail. I never bothered with the 9600 xt because I once had a 9800 pro aiw and it was a good card but wasn't in it's prime when I had gotten it. Very crappy cooler but stable TV tuner and even manged to get crysis to load lol. Played HL2 very well.

So you judge to card to been overheated and is faulty, right?

Yes, if you are seeing blocks and dots along with every thing else on your screen then your card is shot.

Did a uninstall "everything" with ATI and let MS do the VGA-driver. It works fine up to 1024x768 32-bit. If I go over this then the trouble begins again. So I assume your right about the card is being toast...
